Coming home to the good old Boyne was the first thing on my mind even before I tried calling my fiancé. The dusts of Afghanistan have not been shaken off my hair yet, but I did not mind just to have that concrete feel of ground of home sweet home. My fiancé and I were on for a Boyne City wedding. My fiancé was kind enough to give me the chance to celebrate our wedding in Michigan rather than in Tampa Bay where her family and her work are based. She has been most sensitive to my emotional needs following the consecutive deployment I have been subjected to from the past year till very recently.
Our wedding preparations were stressed with the fact that she could not find what she wanted in Boyne itself. It took us a lot of meetings with wedding organizers and hotel events executives but both of us definitely wanted outdoors. In such a milestone event in anyone’s life, there is no settling for second best.
